The Tri County Radio Association is notifying local clubs about our NPOTA activation from Thomas Edison National Historic Park (HP44) in West Orange on Saturday, June 4th, 2016 (1400z-2100z). In addition to the central purpose of this activation (celebrating the National Park Service's 100th anniversary), this date coincides with Edison Day - where the whole park is open to the general public, in addition to the West Orange street fair. The NPS plans to include us in their publicizing of this event. All radio amateurs are welcome to join us.
The Edison Laboratories are an amazing national treasure that I think all amateurs can appreciate. We will be operating alongside other STEM based activities, including a chemistry experimenting area, and a "maker space" group that will be doing various electronic and drone demonstrations. This is an excellent opportunity for amateur radio to gain public exposure, as our operating area is geared towards both adults and children, providing them with the ability to be hands on with science and technology. The NPS let me know that there is significant foot traffic throughout the park during this event.
We will be operating on battery power using QRP (20W) SSB on 20/17/15/12/10 as band conditions dictate.
